Netflix – Stranger Things S4

The Brief

A little show called “Stranger Things” was promoting the release of their 4th season. Netflix global planned for ‘portals’ to open up all around the world, including one on Bondi Beach. To the surprise of Eastern Suburbs residents, Australia is much bigger than Bondi Beach. We needed a creative idea to share the activation with the other 99% of the country.

The Solution

A very special episode of Bondi Lifeguards. We created a borderline parody episode of the iconic series, showing the team’s effort to keep the beach safe from the Bondi portal. The video went gangbusters on launch, reaching over 5 million people organically and was the most viewed reel in Australia in 2022. It also received a few award nominations and won a webby.

Fun fact, the original script involved a CGI Demogorgon and was personally disapproved by (creators) the Duffer brothers. Despite this brush with fame, I’ve somehow managed to stay grounded.
